DVD Guide....My Rating System

With Cheap girls guide to DVD/Movies underway I thought it would make sense to come up with a rating system like all the good movie reviews have. I thought of doing popcorn cause who doesn't love movie popcorn but that has been done before. Then I thought go with what works for you and how decided to go with how I decide what I'm willing to pay for a movie. With that said here we go:

The Date Night Movie: When I think of movie prices then I think of the "date night" as the ultimate movie night. When you are willing to spring for the trip, the ticket, popcorn and maybe dinner or desert. That is why this rating is at the top of my list. If a movie is worth $30 to $40 dollars than it has to be dang good.

Personal Movie Night: Some movies are good and worth going to the movies to see but they just aren't worth the big ticket price. That is where the personal movie comes in. When the movie is still worth the drive and the ticket but you might want to bring your own popcorn, skip the dinner and definitely forget about desert.

Make It a "B" Night: Since I don't want to step on any toes (Blockbuster) I am trying not to completely rip off their saying. This is for that movie that is worth checking out but save some money and rent it. Also when I say rent it I will be specific. With cable rentals almost as much as a movie ticket I am for sure going to let you know if it's worth it.

Catch It When You Can: I am a big lover of just about all movies but some are just better when you didn't spend a dime for them. That is where this category comes from. Just wait for it to show up on cable. You are already paying for the good movies might as well watch the not so good one too.

Just Skip It All Together: If you notice there is nothing for this one. My goal is to not to have to use this rating at all but if I run across something is a complete waste of your time then I will let you know. Hopefully we will not have to see this one make an appearance.

So there you have it. Hope that helps and serves as a helpful guide once I really start reviewing. Until then keep watching those movies and if you have one you would like my opinion on then leave it below.

Cheap Girls Guide To DVDs (CGG)

Who doesn't love a good movie? Absolutely no one. We all love that little escape that it gives us. For the hour that we are gone we can relax or get scared. We can fall in love or get all emotional without anyone saying anything.

However, with the cost of gas slowly reaching $4.00 (or $5.00 in some places), movie tickets around nine dollars each, and let's not even get into the cost at the snack bar. A relaxing night at the movies can run you close to thirty bucks if you aren't careful. There is nothing relaxing about that.

Not to mention that movie companies in my opinion are starting to slack some on the content and greatness of movies. Gone are the days of the brat pack and being able to count on a good John Hughes movie to get you through the weekend. Now we are lucky if there are two good movies to get you through the month.

Therefore with my cheap butt I am starting the "Cheap Girls Guide to DVDs". Every other Wednesday I will be posting my recommendations of new DVDs that I think would make a great movie night. If it catches on then I might got to every week. I will also be adding in any great tips I have for saving money while still enjoying the movies today.

Alright so look for my first recommendation in a next week to get started. Some of these might not be newer movies but they will all be great. At least in my opinion. :P

New Year, New Look, New Title

Welcome back to the all new "STRICTLY MY OPINION".

Yes I know that is has been forever, and that was putting it mildly, since I posted a new post but this year we are coming back with a great line up of ideas and lots of different goals for this blog. Everything from book and movie recommendations to reality television reviews. I know, I know. I hate most reality TV but it apparently isn't going anywhere so I might as well embrace it. Besides I have plenty of opinions on reality TV and how real or unreal it really is so that should be good for writing.

And leads into why the name change. "Strictly My Opinion" is really more encompassing than "What's the What" and considering that for the most part this blog is all just my opinion about life, entertainment and society it was just more fitting.

I should warn you that will all that I would love to share here it is going to take some time to get into the swing of things. My hope is that by the Spring this should be up running and ready to roll. Stay tuned and I will keep you informed as best I can.

So I am off to find new things and to write down more opinions. Talk to you all soon.
